It was really nice to get out detecting since the ground has finally thawed in the last week. It was a beautiful day so I went out to the woods for a few hours. The first hour and a half were pretty uneventful since my best find was a memorial cent. Then I made my way over to an area that I had always suspected to be good since it is right next an area of old gravel near where some buildings used to be. I never tried detecting it before because it is covered with heavy brush. My first signal here was a good one. I found a pull tab first but was still getting signals in the hole with my pinpointer. Next I dug a wheat cent and was checking the hole when I noticed I had flipped a silver quarter (1944) sitting next to the hole. I knew I had a spill so in a frenzy I dug four more wheaties and a mercury dime (1941). A few feet away in separate holes I dug the 1952 rosie and 1926 wheat cent. I am definitely going back to this spot.

NICE 1ST hunt for 2019. It don't get any better than that with 3 SILVER coins - I was born 77 years ago & raised in ILLINOIS, NW of Peoria and lived in that area until 1988 when we moved to FLORIDA & now retired......I started detecting there in 1971 & loved digging in that black rich soil of the Midwest. Thanks for your posting & sharing -- I bet there is still more SILVER in that area -- So, Good Luck & Happy Hunting.
