I received an invite to hunt with Tnetters Washingtonian and his brother Washingtonian Jr.. They were on a metal detecting vacation and had lined up permissions in South Carolina, and generously asked if I was interested in joining them for a day. I jumped all over that!

The day startled early with a beautiful sunrise, and a biscuit from the temple of deliciousness that is Bojangles.

I arrived at the rendezvous point, we had introductions, and got down to business. The place was an old store and surrounding property. We found a few coins but nothing better than a 1917 wheatie.

Washingtonian decided that this wouldn’t work, so from a serendipitous door knock, he managed to get a hand full of spots for us to try. The places were spectacular, beautiful old properties, cool sunny weather and good company... but we didn’t find any old silver coins or CW relics. I kind of felt bad for the brothers. I’m used to not finding anything, so I was right at home.

Here is a picture of the guys, eating PB&J sandwiches and using their phone at the same time!

Here are the boys at an early 1800s property we hunted.

Here is a picture of all of my finds. Five wheaties, Tootsie, assorted brass and tractor parts.

I found a couple of plain flat buttons.

I found this spout, it’s brass, if you recognize it, let me know. I want it be from a powder flask, but it’s not.

I found a glass insulator and a deer shed, in the woods. There were at least a dozen insulators sticking out of the ground, I just took one.

Even though we didn’t find seated coins or CW relics, I had a great time, and can’t thank the brothers enough for their most generous invite. Spending time with like minded people is always the greatest treasure.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

Another nice post from the great traveling T-netter! As most here know, just getting out on a nice day with good people is what it's all about.
Those buttons look good and I always like finding the insulators.
Glad to see you getting out.

Man, we had fun with you CT! South Carolina has been tough on us but that was a highlight. And to the rest of T-Net, if you have the chance to hunt with CT, do it! You'll laugh, hear some great old war (detecting) stories, and have a great time. Thanks for making the journey down to us CT! Visit us in Seattle and we'll show you where to find a silver dollar! :)

That silver dollar alludes me, ugh.

Thanks so much for the invite. You hooked us up solid on the spots. Well done. It was great to finally get to meet you and Junior. It really is about the people and the adventure, and I found both of those things on Sunday.

Thanks for the gifts and company! It was still fun even though we didn’t find anything. I’m glad that crazy guy didn’t shoot you

Glad that you had fun, I did too.

I wasn’t going to mention that pistol incident. He was just letting me know to stay on my side of the fence. It’s funny, now.

Group hunts are my favorite part of this hobby. It doubles, triples, quadruples the finds and the excitement. Sounds like a blast!

It looks and sounds like ya'll had a good time. That in itself is a great thing. I don't think I've seen that style or model of the tootsie truck. Looks like a sweet find. One more thing. If you're going to be in the woods, you should be looking for some of them morels. The third week in March is when I started finding them... they're delicious. SD

We’d like that! We’re socked away back in the NW now but maybe sometime in the next couple years! Haven’t been able to get my coil over even a large Cent here, I don’t think they were really ever in circulation out this way. By the time settlers were showing up in Western Washington Indian Head Pennies were the Cent of the day.
