Nice old keys! The top one looks like a padlock key, and the bottom looks like a door key to me, but I could easily be wrong.

The bottom one I found near the house foundation and the blade is broke. So its very likely a discard door key.

I agree with Creskol, the one on top does seem to be the size for a padlock, but they could both be for doors also.

Regardless what the keys went to, they are old and great looking. Well Done.

The one on the left is a cabinet key and was used for chests too. The bottom is a doorlock key for a warded lock, fairly common. Boy! somebody bent the bejeebers out of the bottom one. If you're thinking on selling them, I'd go at least $10 on the bottom one & keep the top one for display. A little light electrolysis & some brass brushing will pretty em up nice. Just a thought! By the looks of the bottom one it'd be worthwhile searching further out around where you found these. If they got that mad over a broken lock they might've flung the rest harder! Hope you find more!

Forgive me John845, but those are some of the best Skelton keys I've seen in a while. Finding two at one site is rare and cool! Congrats. Sub 8-)

Some House Keys are Gigantic.

Years ago a Friend was staying Here

000aaa.jpg

the Key she Pulled out to open the Back Door Shocked me.
IT Reminded me of an Old Jail Cell Key it was so Big I Laughed at Her
when she pulled it out her Purse :laughing7:.

Loss Proof even in a woman's purse :laughing9:

These are the only ones I found at a new site I have and the best ones I have found. I found quite a few last year but none like these. Thanks for the replies every one!
