I understand that these can be somewhat valuable, so before I attempt to clean this, should I leave it, or attempt to clean it? I cannot find this token anywhere online, just the 1 ration.

As mentioned, aluminum is very easy to damage by over-zealous cleaning. Start simple with a dry toothbrush to remove the dirt and see if it needs more. I'd stay away from using Andre's pencils on this one. They can gouge aluminum. Trying to remove corrosion will usually end up removing detail also, so, leave the crusty areas alone except for removing dirt.

What appeared in Post #1 is not the same as your post #11, the later showing the description; the former did not.
