Old depot find

I found this brass shell casing in a field about 4'' down near the old depot today.It has 42 and tw stamped on the end.Can anyone id? also found this copper trappers id tag.

That is a cool trappers tag. I'm assuming the 1929 is the year or is it an issue number?

It looks like a .50 caliber brass to me, given the size of the dime.
I have a box of them here someplace that I got from the Nat'l Guard camp up north (they make good "tenor" guitar slides if you have skinny fingers).

Measure the opening where the bullet was. Should be half an inch inside diameter, approximately.
