Hey guys, I tried my luck today at the remains of an earlt 1800 or late 1700 farm site. I just worked the iron and hard. I found a few coppers (toasted) and a bunch of buttons. But, I also found these three things. Any thoughts if the snake head which was gold guilted or the silver plated button with the shield are Revolutionary? Also how early is the eagle button? Sorry about the pics being sideways, this was my first on 3d paint.

Thanks,
Don

Nice stuff. Remember all buttons with backmarks date after 1800. That might help some.

Is the bend of the Snake filled with dirt or solid? Brass?

I have no idea on the snake piece. The snake design has been used on one thing or another since forever.

Is the snake piece you're referring to the lead picture? As others stated the buttons are post revolution, but still a nice 1820s 1 piece eagle.

Yes, it is the first picture. Any thoughts?
