I was supposed to be on a club hunt today but it did not happen. Not sure of the details but I am sure it will all come out at the next meeting.

So, I had the choice of door knocking or continuing my cleanup of a standing permission. I chose the latter...maybe i will do some door knocking later this week to freshen up the finds.

After 3 hours of digging, i wound up with a hand full of clad, a bucket full of trash and what i initially determined to be a baseball Token with two baseball bats and the letter M under them.

After putting on my glasses and a little cleaning, the baseball bats became rifles and the reverse looked to be pretty smooth. This lead me to the notion that maybe it was a very thick flat button?

A little internet research gave me the answer.
It is a World War 1 Company "M" Infantry Collar Disc.
without the screw on the backside.

This should go very well with the rest of my uniform items.

Its not the best day i have ever had but at least it was not a skunk!

HH everyone!

Finally, I found

Thanks guys....It's not a rare find but it's a first for me. When i found it, I had no clue what it was. My thought process went from coin to token to button to a final ID of a collar disc.

I think a big portion of our addiction to this hobby is the never ending variety of finds that require research and Identification. It is extremely gratifying to solve a mystery or be a part of a group that does such things.

Hey my friend, that find made your entire day. We do a whole lot of digging a nothing, but then sometimes we find something like that = something of history you now possess. You'd have never even known about it otherwise.

Nor would we :)
