Got to go hunting at 1 1/2 permission yesterday and for the most part it was good.
1st was an 1822 brick home that the lady said only her husband had hunted and found nothing...I was excited..
1st target was a 1888 IPH nice and green.. couple clads later I found my first silver quarter and it was a 1902 Barber, unfortunately the mower had found it first. She was watching us the whole time and I told my buddy to leave the shovel in the car and hand dig today. 30 minuets later she told us to stop we were digging to many holes and her husband would be upset... my wife said she didn't think we would find anything and when we did that had to stop..old people are weird!! I can only imagine what we left behind.
So the 2nd house was an 1815 brick that must have been cherry picked but they left us some good stuff behind. I got a nice Oklahoma 5cent tax token and another 5 cent in trade toke, haven't I.D. that yet, a 1863 fattie IHP, 25 cent paly money,6 Wheaties. and some goodies.
my buddie found a beautiful 1867 Shield nickel that I walked right over! and a cool DeLaval milking supply tag, and silver Rosie. It was good to have a whole day to get out!
Hope everyone else had a good weekend!

Nice finds. The barber got a clip. But still a good hunt all in all. Congrats!

You found some cool stuff. Were your holes undetectable when refilled? If they could gaze out across a potholed lawn, they may have had a point.

I am extremely carful when digging in yards, I see a lot of YouTube e videos of guys using shovels, but I never felt comfortable doing that. I use a digging knife and so did my buddy. Standing in the middle of our digs you could barley see them and that's because we knew were to look!
My best compliment last season after a permission dig, the gentlemen called me the next day and wanted to know were we found all the stuff we showed him!

Nice finds. That Barber got quite a "haircut" It's always a bummer when a permission evaporates like that but at least you found some good stuff!

I believe you. I see some pics posted here of holes that look like they were putting in a fence post. Had to ask, no offense. A shame you got booted. Good stuff still there, no doubt.

The Jerry trade token may be this one:

JERRY (TC-84163)

But with no image of it posted, it is hard to tell. It was listed in the IKO-TAMS (Indiana-Kentucky-Ohio Token and Medal Society) maverick database, so it possibly came from your area.

Still a great quarter in my book! Grats on all the nice finds.
Maybe go back after some time passes, by yourself, confirm that you did no damage to the lawn and ask if you can try again for an hour or so. Maybe give her some trinket that was found on the property or even and IHP.

That's a very nice grouping of finds. That Barber may be a little dinged up...but remember...its all yours! Well done.
