Draped Bust half cent, seated, 1812 artillery and...some relic porn.

Managed a few hunts since the snow melted about 10 days ago. Nothing spectacular especially compared to what I got used to find while on the trip in Europe. I got to get used to the different context, no choice...

One of the finds was on my list for a while.
Draped Bust half cent 1804


A nice Seated Dime 1853



Few more silvers 1870-1910 and War of 1812 artillery button.


Dug a few nice coppers
My best George III 1775



A beautiful Ships, Colonies and Commerce halfpenny



A few beat coins that I would wish were in a better shape.

A cool relic made of brass in the form of bee hives.


Also managed to ID a strange relic I have found while on the trip to Europe in March. Wasn't sure what it was as the item was unlike anything I have found in the past.


It seemed to have a tiny glass eye. After cleaning it I managed to look into it and was surprised to discover some type of picture or tiny drawing of a naked women. Seems to be a 150 years old "peep show" relic... Let's just say I was extremely surprised... A very cool and unusual relic.

"...Previous to 1837, when the lack of specie caused copper change to be accepted in bulk, there lived in Montreal a blacksmith of dissipated habits. He prepared a die for himself, and when he wished to have a "good time" he struck two or three dollars in these coppers, and thereby supplied himself with sufficient change with which to gratify his wishes.."

I believe it's from late 1800's. Close to the birth of photography. I have seen similar ones online but there aren't that many. It seems to be made out of silver and was attached to something made of iron as I can see some traces of rust at the opposite side.

Using evasion as a descriptive word is not the best choice, because there's a specific type of counterfeit called evasions.... just like there is a category of blacksmiths tokens. So the blacksmith token is a type of counterfeit.

I relied on a few sources that stated Blacksmith tokens as evasion rather than counterfeit. Some other sources suggested they were the counterfeits of the evasion tokens (which makes little sense to me) and others that they were purely counterfeit coins. As I have mentioned before that particular Blacksmith has the GLORIOUS struck on it rather than GEORGIVS which would better fit into the evasion type as you have mentioned.
