Finally had a moment to write a post with the finds from last week end. Had a couple of nice hunts with a discovery of 2 new house sites with a good harvest of early coppers, silver and relics.

Probably my favorite relic of the week end was this solid silver tea spoon. It was bent pretty bad when I discovered it but with a help of a friend I have managed to fix it.

Here's how it looked before and its hallmarks (I'm not familiar with those)

An other good relic was 19th century skeleton key. I suspect it was used in the early 1800's Catholic church which was across the street, possibly to open sacristy.

A nice old cross. Haven't found this type before.

A few nice coppers. My favorite was this not yet ID'd Connecticut copper.

Many other coins and relics, here's the pic of my favorites.

Aureus! You've done it again! Awesome finds. Those are some beautiful coppers! That CT one looks like it has enough detail to identify but as I'm sure you know there's a couple hundred varieties! Good luck with that. I'm curious what you do to clean your coins because they often look really nice. I'm also really curious about your thoughts on that circular buckle frame? I found one exactly like that.

Those coppers are in great shape and the silver spoon
is high on my list.
That’s one of most reverent skeleton keys I have seen posted.
Nice hunting.

Thanks. I clean them with hydrogen peroxide. Dry the coin first submerge in peroxide for 5-10 min. than take it out and dry again, remove any dust from it with a cloth. Than I apply Renaissance Wax, let it dry for 10 min. and rub gently with a cotton cloth to polish it a bit.

Quality and variety! If the CT is 1785 that's quite a bit easier to ID than 1787.
