It was really hot today, so I was only able to get out for a couple hours. I did pretty good though! I found a 1942 Nickel, 1954 silver dime, some interesting pieces of brass and pewter, and my first Large Cent of the year! It's an 1846. The star find of the day was a button with a rooster and "Democratic Club" on it. After a little research, I found out that it was an 1884 Grover Cleveland Campaign Button!! That's why I love this hobby... you just never know what will come out of the ground next! HH

That is a really nice button definitely a great find! and the largie! Looks like it's suffering from some Verdigris but otherwise it's in great condition. You might be able to pick that stuff off without damaging the coin. I'd look into that. I was reading somewhere that if you use a certain kind of metal pick... or maybe Andre's pencils with some patience and time it may clean up really nicely! Congrats on it all!

Thanks guys! The LC looks worlds better than it did, but I need to get a set of Andre's Pencils to finish cleaning it up. I have no doubt that it will be a really beautiful coin once all the junk is cleaned off it's surface.

Consider a fiberglass pen/pencil. Those work a little better than andres
