Found this old brass military button in Middle Tennessee (south of Nashville). It is a cool find, the best condition button I have found in a while. Any advice on the age or military unit associated with the button would be great! It is about 11/16 of an inch in diameter.

What's the age though, Buck? I googled it and only found a pendant based on a British livery button. It looks old to me, but so does my reflection...

Very nice! What environment was it found in? Any background research on where you were hunting? Congrats on the find! :skullflag: :occasion14:

It was found about a mile west of the battle of Brentwood site. Thanks for all the help!

Probably around 1800-1840. If it ends up being linked to the Haitians it would date 1807-1820. There is also some discussion about the buttons being acquired by Nathaniel Wyeth prior to 1832 and being distributed in the Oregon territory. And, research indicates that Ewing Young may have obtained stocks of Phoenix buttons introducing them into California in the mid to late 1830s.

Fits with my best guess, its very similar to the Livery Buttons we find that were popular in the 1830's, if it had a back-mark of a well known Livery Button maker, that is what I would have gone with, but it's blank.

Livery button in this case. Very similar to the Haitian "phoenix" buttons though. Here is coat and cuff of same style found in Lowcountry. Great find though!
