Only second time I’ve found a leather rivet with a star pattern.

Got some quick responses back from the What’s It forum that is is a flintlock tigger guard. Any other ID info or time period is appreciated.

Strange that it has engraving on both sides? Not sure on the references either, but if this is the Treasure Key you need to unlock a cache of gold, you’re welcome!

This bottle cap also came from my front yard, the matching token was from a couple months ago.

Good luck out there!

Nice finds. The Indians cleaned up really nice. Not sure about the mystery item, but I'm sure someone will recognize it.

Real nice finds! The flintlock guard is nice. The first thing I thought of on your mystery item is that it reminds me of the name plate on a horses bridle. I think you can still buy Green River whiskey for a few thousand dollars a bottle. I looked online.

Nice finds. Congrats. The IHP’s are in good shape with lots of detail. When I saw the mystery item I thought it looked a bit like an old screen door pull handle.

Thx Johncoho! I’ve probably found close to a dozen IHP’s in this section of woods and they all come out nice and green.

Thx Gene Mean! Horse bridle plate? You might be on to something there. Maybe the horse’s name was Treashier, the words below it were the horse’s lineage, bottom line is the horse’s home farm. Reverse has owner info?

Thx Hawk88! Yeah, the brass piece was found in a quiet section of woods, no other homesite iron or brass around. Knew it looked old, felt out of place for a handle, but an old trigger guard was a cool ID for sure.

Excellent finds
Thx!

Congrats of the finds Thad. Normally only broken pieces of trigger guard are found. It's definitely from an old muzzle loader, but whether flintlock period or percussion period is anybody's guess.

Thx Steve! Louis and I did a 3 hr hunt trying to find some cellars in S Park. The trigger guard was the only true relic of the day. Lots of more modern stuff, and no luck locating the cellars. That’s how it goes some days... the map maker who managed this part of the S Hills in the 1800’s was maybe testing the whiskey too much.

Nice finds! Makes total sense to me about the horse plate since Meadowlands farm is a known racing horse farm. Neat find and literally came from my back yard! Lol.

Thx John. I found this article. Now how did it end up in my front yard, modern Pittsburgh suburban neighborhood, but built on an early 1800’s farm, I’ll never know.

Very cool! The meadowlands farm house is a historical landmark and was built by John Ewing (a surveyer) in 1826. I used to deliver news papers there in my teen years. Lol. Always loved that place.

Very interesting finds my friend, love that musket trigger guard and those beautiful Indian Heads!
I wonder if the 'Treashier' badge, was originally attached to a horse bridle?

Thx! I think it is a horse bridle tag from a race horse. I haven’t had any luck finding a registry of race horse names online.
