    Sorry, I have no date for your case piece.
    Not familiar with round match cases except the more recent "Marbles" types.
    Perhaps geography and suppliers factor...

    The only one I've recovered (missing it's lid just to bug me...) is likely much younger than yours. (?)

    That's a beautiful one WP.
    I'm only guessing the example I found is actually a match holder.
    It has been squished by the weight of the soil and the cows for years while this was a cow pasture.

    I've only found one silver thimble in 10 years, the rest have been brass or aluminum.
