Found a few hundred feet from a General store and farm that has been around for the last 150 years. Currently a hunting/walking path. Is this an ashtray with initials on it? TJL?

Specifics
- Frisbee shaped (disc)
- Small, about size of a coaster
-Light weight metal (rang high tone on my Tracker IV)

Thanks!

Any information greatly appreciated 100_3015.JPG .

Doesn’t look like an ashtray to me... maybe a saucer? Might help to see the other side too. In any event, congrats on the interesting find! :skullflag: :occasion14:

Well I would use it as ashtray, but basically the whole world is an ashtray for me.

But I dont think it intended as ashtry since it lacks those little dents wher you could lay the cig. on.

I dont think its 150 ys old. Aluminum was quite costly (and rare) by 1850.

I don't think it is an ashtray. There are no indents to hold a cigarette. I would go with saucer of some sort.

I believe it is a coaster. My grandparents had a set of about five of these with their last initials on it in the same font and everything, and they always used it as coasters

I can’t help you identify the purpose of your item however I can help with the lettering. I believe your photo is upside down. It looks like a gothic “L” rather than initials. Those three little spikes coming off on its right side in your photo, always are on the left side of a letter and would be turned downward not upward. You can look up gothic lettering and compare.
