So,My find of the day is this 1700's solid silver Luckenbooth trade brooch. You can still see a small part of the pin still wrapped around the pin on back. Nobody has seen this shape of it though. a 173? KG11 copper my 13th copper for the year a cool pewter button with a back mark. never dug a pewter button with a back mark before. a few flat buttons and 2 iron hand forged strap hinges.
Not sure technically if it's a
Luckenbooth? since it's not heart shaped but a few people said it's a trade silver brooch.

This is a really intriguing find my friend. Being of Scottish descent I have a real love for these Luckenbooth pieces. The one I found is one of my favorite finds ever. But it’s the normal double heart design. I’m really curious to know what the meaning of yours is. I’m going to do some digging and try to find some info. I’m curious if this is technically considered a “Luckenbooth”? Regardless it’s an amazing find and one that has my full attention. I’ll let ya know if I find any info. That’s s fantastic find and I consider these complete brooches to be BANNER finds. Especially one as unique as this. Very special indeed

Great finds congrats! I would be curious to know: A if it is a luckenbooth B what does this shape represent? It looks to be completely freestyle.

yeah nobody has seen one this shape but it's definitely 1700's and most likely a cravat pin and was made special for someone

Well Dave not surprisingly I have been unable to find anything of similar design. I would love to know what that design represents. To me it’s unique and beautifully done. I’m in love with these early silver brooches. It’s a fantastic piece to add to your collection
