Found this button today. It’s pretty worn but has more detail than I could get on a photo. Was able to make out “Rangers 1812”, found a photo of the button online and that it is a Boston Ranger Coat Button (1820-1830). I can’t find out any other information about it so if anyone can help would be great. Would love to know how it ended up in what was an old farm field in Eastern Long Island, New York. Pretty cool.

Wow that is very cool! I live in Boston but I certainly haven't seen one of those! The amount of gilt left on there! Serious keeper!

Definitely a cool button. I have never seen it before. Is it in Albert's book? My copy is at home or I'd check. Can you make out a back mark?
