Did 3 more hunts since my last post, not more than 2-3 hours each time. The heat is too much for me, even in the woods. Had a decent harvest nevertheless with a good variety of early military items, coins and relics.

Only found three coins and, by funny coincidence, their denominations were of 1,2 and 3 cents.

My first Union For Ever Civil War token 1864

Then an other first Two cents - 1864 in a great condition

20190726_174501.jpg 20190726_174514.jpg

And then, an other first Silver trime 1856 (it's my first trime of 90% silver purity)

20190721_184024.jpg 20190721_184046.jpg

Found a good number of early military relics and buttons.

My fifth 1830's-1850's Victorian Horn Shako in an extremely good shape.

20190726_191219.jpg

Two more Crown Shakos from the same period and a brass one in the form of ''I'' or ''1'' I'm not familiar with.

20190724_205548.jpg

An other Tudor Rose shako piece, again 1830's-1850's

20190726_195344.jpg

A few nice buttons.

Officer's artillery War of 1812

20190726_111408.jpg

Officer's Upper Canada Militia War of 1812 some silver plate still remaining (never seen or heard of these buttons before).

20190726_174648.jpg

An other officer's button that looks to worn for ID

20190721_180501.jpg

Victorian ''P.R.'' button 1850's-1860's (Provincial Rifles?)

20190724_205429.jpg

Two mystery military buttons, I would guess early Victorian 1830's-1850's

20190729_184531.jpg

Canadian Militia 1830's-1850's

20190724_205459.jpg

And the same as last week mystery Volunteer Rifles from the same period

20190726_125630.jpg

A military chain decoration. Not 100% sure of the use but possibly from a Victorian military hat.

20190728_093817.jpg 20190728_093859.jpg

An other relic I'm not familiar with. Was found in the same hole as the shako.

Found a very interesting civilian relic as well. A lead figurine made in form of the boy riding a bicycle. What I found interesting on top of the mid to late 19th century clothes he seems to be wearing is the style of the bike. It has the front wheel equipped with pedals which is slightly larger than the back. This type of the bicycle resembles the 1860's-1870's type called Bone shaker, it was popular in Europe and the US up until early 1870's when it was replaced by the models that look much more like those we see today.

An other cool relic was the largest complete crotal bell I have ever found. (Always a pleasure to find those)

Thanks for the comments.

You have a lot of great finds there! The civil war token is just plain awesome. The 2 Cent is incredible and what a nice coin! There is so much history represented here you could spend hours researching all those buttons. Amazing. The piece that is probably the coolest and pretty unique... don't get me wrong I would be overjoyed to find those coins... The kid on the bike! That is such a cool artifact! The fact that it clearly represents a boneshaker is just amazing. You have to imagine at that time bikes were probably not super common. It would be this thing that you heard about probably through word of mouth or saw in a newspaper. Then one day you see the real thing. Wow what a device!!! I need to find a trime. What part of Canada do you recommend I go to?!!!! Thanks as always for sharing your trove!

Thanks xcopperstax. That toy is actually one of my favorite finds of the summer. I really like the uncommon relics and this one is clearly one of them.I bet for most kids in 1860's-1870's getting a Bone shaker would be beyond their wildest dreams ( something hard to grasp today with the bicycles being so common), so getting a toy representing a kid riding one was the next best thing.
I have only found 2 Trimes since I started detecting 5 years ago. Discovered them within 6 weeks of each other, from totally different areas. I believe it's a strange coincidence more than anything else since I haven't changed my style of detecting or modified any settings on my Deus. The best areas I believe would be South Eastern Ontario and Quebec if you really decide to go on a hunt in Canada, but I'm pretty sure you'll have a way better chance in North Eastern US

Another outstanding group of finds! The military relics you have been finding of late are amazing.

Thanks Steve. Too bad that for most they aren't of earlier type but I still feel privileged to have discovered them.

I think I'll plan my next vacation in Canada, so I can find some nice US coins! Seriously, those are some awesome finds. As someone already said, that's soil sure is kind to coins and relics. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations.

Thanks lenmac65 Finding early US coins in Canada is an exception, not a rule. I probably just hit a spot where an immigrant from US settled right after the Civil War.

Love the condition of that 2 cent piece. I am sure we all would the to have the kind of soil you are hunting in.

That type of soil is pretty unusual for where I'm at. Wish more of my sites had the same.
