Found this at a prominent old homesite but which has been hit hard by other detectorists in the past. Rang up 16-17 on Equinox.

It still needs a little more cleaning but as you can see, 90% of the gold gilt is still on it. Back says W.H. Jones & Co. "EXTRA"

Another winner of the Equinox!!! And man that is a gorgeous gorgeous button. Wow I would have passed out. See on old sights/parks you gotta check those 16-17. You never know.

Thanks guys. When it came out I thought it was a nice gilted civilian, then i saw the cannon ball stack and I ripped my headphones off and ran to my digging buddy. I thought I had my first war of 1812 button, but after a little research, I learned the corps were formed just after. Either way, Its a looker, and another first for me.

Ive had my equinox for about a year and a half and im still learning its language. Ive got all of the coils, but have left the 15" on for the last 6 months and have been able to cover a lot more ground and my finds totals are UP.

Incredible. I found a button with that much gold gilt (see my avatar), and then found its brother-button sitting a few feet away. So go back and search!

Anyway, congrats! The gilt is beautiful, but I love that cannon.

That button is incredible. I would be stoked to find that with 0% Gilt! With that much gilt it's on some other level of awesome. And a shank to boot? This button has it all! It's also seen some serious history. I wish to find something of that caliber some day!!!

That's a real beauty. Must have been on an officers uniform.
