I was able to get out for a few hours Saturday to a farm property I have been hunting since early this year. I wasn’t able to find a single coin this time, but I got some relics to add to the display case for this site. Probably the most interesting is this Knights Templar’s of Pennsylvania badge from the Washington, PA Commandery. Jacques De Molay was the last Grandmaster of the Knights Templar and was burned at the stake in March 1314.

Here is a list of the Knights Templar Commanderies in Pennsylvania. You can see this Commandery is the 12th one listed.

I also found a nice pre-1850 wooden keg spigot, a crushed silver thimble, and a fancy one piece button.

Here is a pic of the better finds, some of which are already in the scrap bucket :laughing7:

I like the ornate button. I rarely find anything like that. Silver thimble is always a top shelf find. The Templar piece is what makes this hobby fun. Find a crusty relic - clean up and see some copy - Google - learn a new bit of local history. Congrats!!

Thad, if I hadn't found that Templar Badge, I would never have heard of Jacques De Molay.
