Hey folks!

I got out this morning with newer forum member Lucas (NoThisIsPatrick) for some early morning hunting. We decided to check out a small park that’s been on my radar for a while and struck out quickly. It looks like it’s been hit pretty well at some point so there were hardly any high tones left.

He’s on the quest for his first silver coin so we opted to head into Seattle proper from there. It just has more history and opportunity than the outlying suburbs.

During my doctor visit yesterday I spied an old looking building I thought could hold some potential. We checked it out and it didn’t disappoint. I got 10 Wheats and a 25-S merc (career silver 200!) outside that building and Lucas pulled in 4 Wheats as well.

We exhausted that spot and headed to another part of town I’ve had in mind for a while. I haven’t detected much there before but I think that’s about to change.

First, while we were just walking from the car to the site with our gear, a homeless guy offered me two silver dimes at a buck a piece. Must’ve known what we were after! Sounded good to me so I took him up on it! Lol. Never had anyone try to sell me something (other than maybe drugs) while detecting, but he had the right goods and came to the right guy.

On to the site from there. We started popping some wheats and near the end of the day I scored a nickel spill with a 43-D war nickel and 52 Jefferson.

All in all an awesome day. I’ll have to let Lucas tell his side of the story and share some of his firsts. We’ll be doing this again.

I know some of you nerds like to geek out on wheat dates so here are the close up of those. [emoji23] I narrowly edged my previous high in a day by one for a total of 17. Oldest was a 1919.

Also, this 1963 button is a mystery to me. I figure it must be to a local school but I couldn’t find anything. Any thoughts?

Thanks for looking friends. I appreciate the support. Good luck out there all!

My day wasn’t quite as bountiful as my new bud Washingtonian’s, but alas I did manage to set my oldest coin record four times in a row!

I found a total of 7 wheaties, the notable ones being:

1930-s
1927
1916-d
1913-d

The 1916 was found on a raised area which Eric theorized must have been a spot that people tied up their horses. There was still an old post, but man it was shocking to think that kind of history still exists on the sidewalks people walk on every day.

I also pulled out a rock pendant, and some junker earrings. All in all, a fun and productive day! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1565749467.923875.jpg

You did well! Next stop, the silver express for you my friend. Soon you’ll be digging Barbers, V Nickels and Indian war relics. Anything newer than 1900 will bore you to death. [emoji23]

Thank you Randy! I know some people knock that many out in a year but I am not so fortunate. If I can average 50 a year for a while that is a-okay with me.

Nice finds Wash. You guys had a good day. When homeless people come up to me, all they ever want is the $2.00 but they dont have any silver for me ! You did well by getting a few silvers for your money.
