When all of the stars align, i.e., open public park land, legal to metal detect, well mowed and clean, directly behind a row of 1800's houses, and relics everywhere! Julio sniffed out more old coins, old lead projectiles, and old brass and copper relics. Coins included a couple of dollars in clad, a readable 1936 Buffalo nickle and a crusty Indian Head Penny. (Any suggestions to get the crud off of it?) Any idea on the curly-Q big brass ornamental item with the broken snap clip (?) riveted on the side? It swivels too. Also found a handful of old "Winchester Civil War Buttons." Happy Hunting to all of my friends. Sub 8-)

That curly-Q big brass ornamental item is a swedge style express hook off of a horse harness team saddle.

Thank you Creskol, This is my first example of such an item. What a hefty chunk o' brass it is! Sub :headbang:

To clean that IHP use a tooth pick or get Andre's pencils. The pencils are made of a metal that is softer than the IHP's so you can generally use them without fear of ruining the coin. Look up on youtube how to use andre's pencils there should be some demonstrations to help you understand.
