I’ve not been getting out like I should this summer, the cooler weather will be here soon.

I found a small spot last weekend. A couple of empty lots where houses once stood. As usual, lots of trash and debris in the ground. There were quite a few coins too.

I was digging all of the signals, on the spots where the bulldozer had left the original front yards relatively intact. Sure enough, nestled between a hand full of wheaties were two back to back deep high tones, about 18” apart.

I was thrilled with two Mercs, I continued on, certain that more would show up, but I’m alas, that was it for the shiny.

I stopped at a spot today, it looked good, but was loaded with trash. I got some modern coins, but no silver. Three wheaties and a ‘51 dog license was all I was smart enough to find.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

I did the same thing today for about 2 hrs. Went to a strip along a sidewalk that led to the fair. A lot of junk, Wheaties and no silver. Not everyday is gold... or silver... You at least got lucky!

Nice finds. As someone mentioned, your results show that you are doing all the right things. It may sound silly, but I have yet to find a Merc, which is likely my favorite coin. I do a lot of detecting on southern California beaches, but haven't explored enough older areas. My day is coming though!

Nice job on the pair of Mercs and the rest of your coins Tom. I like that Dog Tag also. Glad you got back out.

Same here Brian. Still looking for my first SILVER let alone Merc.. some day tho. There are like 3 old civil war camps in my area. I'm hoping some day to find some of those relics
