First time post because honestly, I'm horrible at finding treasures. But I was on a really badass hike, and looked down to see my first stone artifact EVER lying in the middle of the trail. Found at Approx 12000 ft elevation, in an area with some very small conifers, just adjacent to a big flat open alpine meadow. SW mountains of Colorado (Ute territory). My sister, a somewhat experienced but significantly luckier collector, immediately identified it as a drill. My own research leads me to believe it is indeed an archaic drill / borer. Any reason to believe differently? Apologies if this is a very uninformed question, but is there any way to get to a date range? I can't believe what a beautiful rock this is made from. I feel like I'm cheating on my mycology obsession, but this piece got me excited. Any shared wisdom is very much appreciated!
