With only 2 hrs to spend in the fields i didn't got much, but i was happy with the Bronze to Silver ratio of 1:1.
At home it come true what i was thinking with the blackish denarius i found. The lady is Juno Moneta and the reverse shows anvil pliers and hammer, topped with the Pileus, cap of the blacksmiths.
Juno Moneta was a goddess and in her temple in Rome coins were minted for centuries. Thats where our name money came from.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_of_Juno_Moneta

Some say the tools show the tools needed to hammer coins, some say these are just blacksmiths tools.

So say Hello to this old Lady!
Roman Republic T. Carisius, 46 BCE AR Denarius, 18 mm, 3.62 gm Obv: head of Juno Moneta right; MONETA behind Rev: implements for coining money: anvil die with garlanded punch die above; tongs and hammer on either side; T CARISIVS above; all within laurel wreath (Cited from: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/juno-moneta-die-anvil-tongs-hammer.298102/)

I really do apologize, just do not have the opportunities you do. We got no old stuff in this dirt.

We be only a couple hundred years old here.....

Is what it is, but love my dirt = cherish yours :)

Glad you got an ID off that one & a real early one. Republic coins just seem impossible to find over here for us. Good for a 2 hour hunt!

Awesome targeted 2 hour hunt. You plan your time very strategically or just lucky. I usually hope for both... Congrats!

Roman Republic Denarii turn up from time to time, must been still in circulation when lost.

Yesterday was just plain luck. With this little time i was more scouting the fields where to go next when i found this perfectly flat rolled field. I covered the main area in the neighboring field often, but rarely this field because of the different crop rotation. A gave it a try and hit silver....

That's insane! We jump for joy when we find coins from the 1700's, I've even found a coin from the 1600's, but a 2000 year old coin?

Nice score Lu. Good to see you back on the silver. Maybe that medieval gold has you tuned in? The crossed arrow medal doesn't look Nazi. Could that date to the Franko-Prussian era? I know they fought over your area. Hope you find all her family. Good luck.

A great coin, too bad it got mangled over the millenia, but still a beauty to see!
