Been away on business for a week and finally got out Monday morning to a previous remote spot. Have found some interesting items. No remains of a home site what so ever. But many early homes on the cape were quite primitive with dirt floor and no well or stone/brick fireplace. But these items are next to a fresh water pond, no doubt their source of water. Later, the land must have been used for just farming. There are remains of iron farm implements from mid 1850's. But no sign of any of the usual home site items after late 1700's.

The most recent dated items found were three coins. 1863 Indian Head Penny. 1865 2 Cent (nice condition) also 1857 Flying Eagle Penny (also in nice condition)

Two early brass buckles. One looks quite close to the Standard Soldier Shoe Buckle but with a dent. (dang, not from me) see image on "Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution" book page.

Some decorative buttons and a usual plain one.

A long brass part to a fire arm?

Large Brass Thimble

The third copper hammered spoon end (also very similar to ones in "Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution")

Don't think I'm done looking. But many thanks for looking! Bill IMG_20190911_081713799.jpg

Great finds there hope you find the old homes sometimes it's just an out of place tree they planted that can find the old home spots. Great job

The brass piece is the sideplate from a Revolutionary War period Hessian musket. Excellent find!

Love those buttons. Part of a Hessian musket... awesome! Bet you are happy the tourist season is winding down. Cape traffic is tough, especially in the summer. Happy hunting!
