So, for the backstory. Went to a friends and her boyfriend had try to build a paper patio in the back. Soon as I saw it, said how about we re-do this lol(this is the work I do) it was unlevel and water would shed right to the basement window. So next day we tore it up and realized it had not been dug out nearly enough. So lots of digging later I found a skeleton key. Gave it to my friend since she really liked it. Well all is done and we had a pile of dirt. I said mind if I detect the dirt? I found this dime and pictures are going to be hard to tell buuuut. I feel pretty confident that it’s the key date dime we all hope to find. It’s just very very rough shape. Let me know what y’all think. I circled the area I feel the mint Mark is. I know pics are the best but curious what y’all think.

I think if you are claiming a "D" mintmark, you ought to show it. The attachment above doesn't work.

The front qualifies, but we need a picture of the back.

I was wondering what a paper patio was. I hope it's a D that would be great you did a good deed and that would be good karma some more pics would help do you have a jewelers loop those are not expensive and help alot in cases like this. Good luck

If you have to try to guess if its a "D", its most likely not. I have dug many 1916 MERCs over the years. Most were too well worn to have any remains of a mint mark if it was there to begin with.

Sorry, but your pic is about as clear as a pic of aliens, bigfoot and nessi having a tea party.

I’ll see if I can get something more clear tonight but the dime is just that worn. The spot I circled, is where the mark should be and you can see a spot. Just don’t know if it’s a mark or a mint mark

Dont try to get as close as possible. hold your camera (or phone) at least 6 inches away. Most phones let you tap on the screen to pic a spot to use as the focal point. Take the pic and then use your editting to crop and enlarge.
