I had set my goals for the week in England fairly low.
All I wanted to find was a silver coin. It could be milled or hammered. I didn't care.
All I heard from others was , "I got a hammy!"
The guys didn't understand when I could not find a silver coin (after finding a gold torc piece), why I was still upset. I know I should have been blown away by the Torc, but I just wanted to find a silver coin.
So... on the last day I was there, I found my silver milled coin and i was really happy. It was a 1912 Silver six pence. Not anything special, but I had met my goal. I was headed back towards our lunch meeting spot when the rain and wind started to get fierce. Moving across the field, I got a great signal, but thought it was probably just another chunk of roman bronze/brass that sounds so good. I dug down about 10-12 inches and out popped this beauty looking at me. Two gold in a week! What a trip. 1817 Gold Sovereign (Bullhead). My first ever gold coin. Apparently the Latin on it reads: "Evil be to he who evil thinks".

Congrats on a banner find, I think that's all of our goals to find silver but gold that's the holy grail. Well done. Tommy

Very cool, Dave!! What machine were you using?

I was using the Equinox 600. I had said I was gonna go back to the CTX because I just could not find any silver. But, my CTX was acting up because it had rained all day the day before and I didn't feel like dealing with it, plus the EQ is lighter. Good thing I didn't!
