I spent a nice day in a cornfield looking for projectile points and took the AT Pro along just in case. (Very little maneuvering room for my search coil of course) Got a screaming signal at the base of a cornstalk and a heart-stopping vision of this large, dirt caked copper coin! My hopes were dashed when the kangaroo emerged from the rinse with my water bottle. :tongue3: Well itโ€™s still a cool looking penny anyway and a long way from Australia! :icon_thumright: FB2C8A38-2330-498B-BA85-6F085B85F0C1.jpeg E1C058D1-674F-4FE6-93D8-6226699D0F10.jpeg 75BEB499-C817-4E8A-A6F9-C3554DD459DD.jpeg EA5C098C-7C44-4DB1-B480-F33B13CA4132.jpeg F4A7C719-27C5-4EDC-94A3-51703A744DBB.jpeg BFC4CC32-C1C2-42FB-901D-5822CFB820F7.jpeg

Iโ€™ve found 2 of those big Aussie pennies in W PA. Must have been a popular coin for WW2 soldiers to bring home. Congrats

Hi Funny treasure hunters ,Considering a King George 1930 Australian penny is a very rare and mega value coin. Better leave the treasure hunting to those who know. TP

Wow, too bad I was off by 13 years tinpan! We (meaning me) certainly donโ€™t know much about Australian coins here. Thanks for clarifying that. Cheers!

At a point when I had only found 2 or three coppers I found one in a 1800's front yard permission. I was so excited. It ended up being a South African penny from the 40's. I'd categorize it as better than a wheatie but not the right KG! :BangHead:

Nice find, I found one of those also on a site with a 1920's house along with a WWII General Service button, I am pretty sure it was brought back by a soldier as a souvenir.

Hey, xcopperstax! I guess most of us have, or will experience this in some way or another as we recover our targets. I found some Henny Penny play money once that's about the same size as a 'Trime' silver 3 cent piece.

Nice find. Nice shape. Nice patina. Congrats
Thanks, Hawks88! I actually favor the patina on this one over most of the copper coins that I've found. I carry this one around now as a pocket piece because I like the look and the feel of it.

Nice find.Congratulations
Thank you, rook3434 and Happy Hunting! :icon_thumright:

It's amazing how they end up lost in the ground then, BLK HOLE. I could just imagine kids playing with them, trading stuff with their friends, and dropping them.

I guess be glad itโ€™s not trash
Well, Scolino I found some of that too and nothing but quartz flakes, as far as the projectile points go... but it was an awesome day out hunting anyway! :icon_thumright:

Man my heart would have skipped a couple beats if I flipped that out of a plug! Still it's a nice coin and I can't believe they made a penny that big in the 40's!

Mine was truly pounding and I was savoring every moment of the recovery! Still pretty cool when you think...what are the odds of finding any kind of coin like that in a huge corn maze! 8-)

Thanks, Joe-Dirt! There were enough of those cans, especially closer to the road where folks toss them.
