It must be barber quarter day from the looks of Bassman’s post😳. Anyway, I was walking through the wet woods as usual not really expecting much but wheaties and V nickels when I got the usual 28-30 shallow beer can signal. It was showing 6” and it didn’t pass the foot in the air beer can test so I said what the hell, let’s dig it.........at first I said nice clad quarter, then I wiped it off😳 I almost sharted myself. Best looking barber quarter for me.

As soon as I saw it I thought man that barber looks even better than the one I just dug. Amazing! That thing is perfect (The liberty on the headband is the first thing I look for and the fine lines on the shield)

I wouldn't clean that at all. I lightly brushed the mud on mine under running water and kind of regret it. Now I'm not 100% sure if some of the fine marks came from the tooth brush or were already there. Probably a toothpick would have been a better approach.
When I plucked it from the hole it was coated with fine dirt, so I just gave it a wipe with a gloved thumb because I would have bet money it was a clad quarter. I’ve walked that path several times and so have friends of mine. The spot is kind of “on the way” to where we usually hunt so I guess I lucked out. I’ve beat up that park hard this year and it has produced some great coins:
1853 trime
1785 Nova constellatio
1899 and 1913-D barber quarter
1919 and 1920 mercury dimes
1958-D Rosie
1903 and 1904 IHP
75+ wheat cents
1930’s Cracker Jack Martin Van Buren token
3 beautiful tombac buttons
Sterling bar pin
3 sterling religious medallions
Gobs of clad
Countless ox shoes
Several .69 caliber musket balls
Several buffalo and V nickels
And I will be going back

Thank you for the kind feedback everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that's what a 'beer can' signal looks like try looking for a 12 pack :)

Very nice, I have a 1899 but not as nice, I also have a 1901-O but it’s almost smoooooove. I dug a barber half this year and it’s a no date cull, happy to find it, bummed when there was not date.

That’s a sweet find JD! And you clearly know what you’re doing...you wouldn’t BELIEVE how many people dig big crappers unnecessarily.

Oh I dig my share, I have 2 4gallon buckets I dump once a week, but the more you pull out, the more masked signals show up
