UPDATED ~ 1919-D SLQ, 1919-S Merc Dime, & 1943-S War Nickel

I took the day off from work and went out detecting at my favorite park. This park has been good to me the last few months. Today I dug a couple bucks in clad, a small silver charm, five wheat cents (I haven't looked at the dates yet), 1943-S War Nickel, 1919-S Mercury Dime, and 1919-D Standing Liberty Quarter. This is only my second SLQ but the first one I found had no date visible. This 1919-D SLQ catelogs at $80 in GOOD!! I think mine is probably about FINE, but discolored from being in the ground. SCORE!!!

I was so excited about the coins I forgot about the other treasures I found today ~ a silver charm marked 925 and a jet airplane! SWEET!!!

An SLQ with a date. Nice find. And a rare one at that too.

Yeah, that's cool! My goal starting out the beginning of the summer was to find a Standing Liberty Quarter and a Barber Quarter. Well, I found a dateless SLQ quarter but no Barber quarter. But now I found a SLQ dated 1919-D ~ I guess that will do for now! LOL

That quarter is beautiful. You are a lucky devil.

How deep was that? I am amazed at the stuff that is still left in parks.

It was about six inches deep. I'm digging tons of trash too ~ this park has been hunted to death over the years, but this new spot just got mowed down from a "prairie restoration project" ~ the grass and vegatation has been three or four feet tall from some time now.

Just wanted to say congratulations again. I am yealous.

See this guys quarter, Lord? That's what I'm talkin' about!

Oh yeah ~ next time you talk to the treasure gods ~ let 'em know I still haven't found any Barber Quarters ~ I may need a more obvious sign on where I should be looking!!

Nice find, and I've had an easier time finding Barbers than SLQs (at least 2:1).

I'm not sure what my problem is ~ after 14 years of detecting I've found ten or more Barber Dimes and two Barber Halves, but no Barber Quarters yet. My buddy Ron has only lived in this area for two years (he moved down here from Washington) and he's found two Barber quarters so far!

Nice SLQ Odd!!!

You not only found one with a date, but a semi-key date as well. I've never found one with a readable date. The closest was a Type 1 that I knew by the reverse. I tell myself it's a 1916 just to make myself feel cool.

That one thing cool about coin design modifications ~ even with the date not visible you still know the date! SWEET!!!!
