My friend Redbeard Mike and I went to a spot by the shenandoah river. We had a blast! First signal of the day was a parrott fuse! We found about 50 bullets. Mike got into a colonial area. He started digging buttons like they were going out of style. He also dug a KII and a cut KGII. There was one button that I'm hoping someone could help us out with... 1762??? Can't find any info on it. I hope somebody knows what it is....

Some nice items there. Spanish real “facsimile” buttons were popular and a lot of varieties exist but they are not a common find. Nice colonial strap guide backplate too

That button was made to look similar to a Spanish coin of the day. More great finds.

I was there Tuesday and am coming back Tuesday! I was on the Eastern Shore yesterday. We did good. Is Sylvester in the midst of a food coma? Looks like he's got his head in his supper dish.

My other cat Smoke, well, he gets high on catnip! His eyes glaze over! It's hysterical. Sylvester looks like he was in a food coma.

Wow great finds that reale button is really a cool find I'd like to run into one of those! I bet it had silver wash or plating on it in it's heyday.

Most of these 'coin copy' Buttons are 1 half of a Cuff-link (or linked-button), only a small proportion were actual buttons.

Nice work! I made it into the Shenandoah river for a hunt this summer near Luray Caverns. I didn't get anything good. There was a battle site nearby but it seemed protected. I would have loved to spend some time there but didn't know the lay of the land.
