So I went back in time (past few) months and tried different setting at the same site and found this.... My deep coins are in the 3-4 foot range

that is a black legged tick aka deer tick the ones that carry lyme. I hope you never got rash or symptoms and got it off quick.

3 to 4 feet is deep holy cow! I must be missing out in a lot, I only go down a foot at the most.

So then you are digging these coppers at 3 to 4 feet from trash pits.
