It rained most of the day so I did other things. The rain finally passed and I managed to get out with only about a half hour of daylight left. Turns out that's all I needed. Found only 2 buttons and but one was this nice gem. Once I got home I started my research and was shocked to learn what I found.

Nice find. Just how many varieties of the “patriotic” rattlesnake buttons exist and are some rarer than others?

Congrats on a stupendous find! I know these buttons don't get the same shine as a GW but I think they are more rare judging by how often they come up on here. Very nice piece of history! Is the mushroom a mushroom or is it a liberty cap? Either way it makes me think the phrygian hat should come back into style!

What an amazing find! Big congrats. Those early political buttons are really rare, I'm voting banner.

I would preserve that amazing button and display it right next to your GWI button. Congrats!

Before I opened your post I was imagining you had found the slightly more common variety, then I saw you had actually dug a Liberty cap version I was awestruck!
What a fantastic button! I can't say which I would like to dig more, the Liberty cap snake button or a GW. I am leaning towards this button.

Congratulations!
Steve P.S. Nominated for Banner....
