Hello Forum,

I found this in a 1800’s site that is now a park. My feeling is that it’s fake but I don’t want to be mistaken. I tried to shine a flashlight through it, and light doesn’t pass through. It looks like it was cut in the back. Could it be Onyx? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for looking! I’m not sure of the metal. The Ace 250 says gold, but it could be Aluminum. I will have it looked at by a jewler.

Looks like an old Onyx ring. The round part broke or was broken off. You can see it on the back. That would have had the markings to tell if silver.

I agree. My best guess would be an onyx ring, and it would not be set in aluminum.

Yeah it looks silver. And I would recheck that hole. It looks like it might have been recently broken off.
