Made it out 3 lunch hours to a lost farm site nearby in the park. Tall grass is finally down in this area.

First hunt = knife and knife parts

International Sterling Wedgewood pattern 1920’s. My 4th solid silver spoon this year, crazy lucky.

Here is the rest of the stuff.

Key is to a Studebaker, the butterfly was all folded up so it was my surprise find during clean up and the T handle piece I believe is a thread tap?

Good luck out there!

Looks like a popular lunch spot even way back in the day lol I love that silver spoon I have literally found tons of silverware but people in Ann Arbor were way to cheap for silver or to drop any coins accept pennies. Great job

That was a good hunt. That silver spoon is really beauuuuutiful. Your 4th this year and I think I have only found 5 or 6 silver spoons in 17 1/2 years. Way to go! Keep swingin.

Thx Tommy! I rarely find period flatware knives and forks, but our dirt is littered with brass plated spoons and spoon frags, sort of an on going mystery. I think I have found 60 spoons a year for the last 4 years, like 240 and only a handful of other flatware.

Great finds pc-dirt nc-sand. I wish I could find a silver spoon. Or fork. Or knife. Or ...anything, really.

Thx! Seeing that dull silver color pop from the dirt is always a thrill.

Thx! It took me 3 years to finally find 1 silver spoon and this year found 4. I think this hobby has a huge luck/no luck factor.

Nice finds,

Yeah the silver spoon is way better than a silver quarter.

They are tough to come by.

I thought I was the spoon king, but I find the spoons of the peons, you find the spoons of the upper crust.

You now wear the crown :notworthy:

Thx Jer! Good luck this weekend.

Thx for the passing the crown. I don’t fully hate plated spoons. Here is a list of old targets higher up the hate list: rivets, rivet washers, tel. ringer bells, shotgun headstamps, deer slugs, grommets, shell casings, zinc mason jar lids, lead blobs, 22 slugs, 22 casings, and random modern clad.

You've got an entire cutlery set! I've found probably 8 or more spoons at a single site this year. I know it was a popular picnic spot back in the day. Bummer is, only one of them is silver. There's gotta be more out there though, probably just of the nickel variety!

I've found tons of knives, forks, and spoons over the years, but, rarely a sterling one! Mine are usually stainless or plated ones. Good find! :icon_thumleft:
