Hey folks!

I haven’t been able to detect much the last few weeks. Unfortunately Detecting time is a casualty of busy season at work. I left after Thanksgiving for a week in Minneapolis for work and then spent this week in Atlanta.

I finally got out to a spot I’ve been meaning to return to since October. I thought I might squeak a couple wheats out and maybe a silver dime if I was lucky. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few silver coins!

Here’s the haul:

EF7368B0-817B-482D-9597-177C4B085B9C.jpg

The tally:
-1920-S Merc
-1945-S War Nickel
-1949-S Rosie
-7 Wheats (oldest is a 29-S)
-1958 Jefferson

Other odds and ends include two older keys, a 1995 Rabies Vaccination tag and a mystery fob.

The Merc is probably the most worn I’ve ever found. It could also be a 1928 or 1929 but based on its wear I’m assuming it’s older like 1920. You can see the 2 and just the top portion of the last number.

I’m glad I found some silver today. Without much time to get out, I wasn’t sure I was going to find silver this month. This marks my 30th consecutive month finding a silver coin. While the Pacific Northwest has its drawbacks (lack of Western history) it is so nice that you can hunt here year-round.

Thanks for looking everyone, happy hunting and enjoy your time with family and friends this month!

Nice finds, I found a Mercury dime in roughly the same condition earlier this year. But hey, silver is silver!

Thanks! That's true. More work means more money but less detecting time. Everything in moderation and everything in its season. Hopefully I'll get some good detecting time in during the new year!

Thanks! I've certainly learned that the best thing you can do is make the best of what you've got. Doesn't do me any good to sit over here feeling sorry for myself since it's really hard to find reales or large coppers here. I might as well do the best I can finding the stuff that's available to me!

I think it's the flatest one I've ever found (excluding beach coins). This thing must've spent decades changing hands. Pretty cool! It also rang up a bit lower (12-44) as a result of the thinness.
