Todays King George Coppers and stuff (George's PICS ADDED)

Myself and three of my hunting buddies got out to two farm field sites for about four hours today. We got a total of 6 coppers. George got 3 and I got 3. One of mine has zero detail. Of the other two one is 1726 (I think)and the other 1750 something. Also a bunch of buttons between us. I'm gonna try to clean em up later on today. My buddy George's coppers we could'nt get much detail from. Maybe after a light cleaning. The 3 tine fork part is pretty heavy. Also one of my buttons has a nice design to it. The wife and kids are out for the day (cheerleading competition) so I'm gonna grab a quick bite to eat and head out for some local cladding. Happy hunting all.

Love those old coppers, but too bad they are always in such poor shape.

Not ever much left to them.

Good hunting.

Congrats on getting 6 coppers you guys!! I do question your 1726 date though, is that a typo?

King George I coppers stopped in 1724 and King George II coppers started with 1727.

Yeah Don it's really tough to see. God only knows what it is then. I might try your hot peroxide
method later on. Kinda beat. Just got back from hunt #2 for the day. Bunch of clad with the X2.
Thanks,Mike

Nice finds, my copper coins are always in the same condition as yours.
It should be illegal to produce coins in any other metals then gold & silver.

Also like the ball button and the v-shaped doo-dah in the right corner, any ideas on what it is? Nice!

Great finds Mike---That was a good hunt for sure.
Do you know what that little ball with the Eyelet on top is? I found one like that last week---Made out of copper I think.

Merf. I believe that is a button. I've seen a few posted on this site like that before.

Good deal Mike. It's a different experience - hunting for the really old stuff. Not nearly as many targets but everything is usually very old and cool. That one coin looks like it survived ok. 8)

Thanks Bob. The one is somewhat salvageable. Years of fertilizer and plows wreaks havoc on em. Still fun to find. Looks like it's gonna be a fun season. I have two of the KG's sitting in water for now. Gonna try tomorrow to clean em a bit. Take care.
