Out to a corn field yesterday afternoon with lots of bits and pieces showing up; the two most interesting are this plated copper plate and a one-inch diameter lead disk with two holes.
IMG_8175.JPG IMG_8176.JPG Thought the lead piece may be a hem weight but a fellow digger has identified it as the spinning piece to a whirligig ( age unknown)

Out today to Druid Hill Park (in Baltimore City) for an hour and a half on a spring-like afternoon and along with 3 wheats dug these 3 Indians.

Thanks Randy. Farm field was pretty sloppy on Saturday here but weather was mild.

Looks like some nice finds McCdig. Your lead piece with 2 holes is also known as a "Whizzer Toy". I have found a few of those made out of coins from the 1890's.

Nice finds. I usually hear of those being called "Whizzers" could be pretty old. I really want to find one of those. Once in awhile people find those made out of large cents. That would be pretty cool: two artifacts in one!

Those Indian Heads are great, especially the 1890; the "Liberty" in the headband is so clear. Congrats on some nice finds!

Thanks Tommy. So far in 2020 I have dug 8 IHCs, dates are from 1864 to 1899. Just need to track down another hotspot.

Thanks Highstrung. Hunted with JC and he dug the front piece to a Great Seal button, likely WWI.

I agree, Tuberale. The spot I'm hunting is one we discovered over a year ago and it has produced some beautiful IHCs and several pre-1900 dimes.

Thanks Treasureman. I was in dig-it-all mode in the cornfield....lots of brass and metal bits, not much in the way of buttons or coins, so doubtful that there was a homesite here.

Thanks lenmac65. Yes, and detail in the necklace and ribbon, with the diamonds visible. Very satisfying to dig a coin here from 9 inches and see 'green'.
