This coin is huge! It weights so much, you should have noticed if this drops out from your pocket :) Found this yesterday from the field, it's my third Russian 5 kopek from 18th century.

That coin has a beautiful design. Way to go. Didn't realize you'd find so many Russian coins in Finland but heck, I guess you are neighbors!

Finland was part of Sweden until 1808, Sweden was also having many wars with Russia during 1500 - 1800. Finland is between Sweden and Russia so that's the reason why here is that much old Swedish and Russian coins from that period :)

Great find!

Similar Russian coins have been found in Northern California where there used to be Russian settlements.

Finland was ruled by Sweden for 600 years. From 1809 to 1917 it was an autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland, which was part of the Russian Empire. In 1917, Finland gained independence.

During the reign of Catherine 2, a lot of 5 kopeek 60423960.jpg coins were minted, some of which cost more than $ 5,000. The Swedish king made fakes of 5 kopecks, and in Russia this fake is called "Avesta", its price is from 5000 to 10000 $.
