Spectacular SC Confederate Button found today with The Minelab Equinox 800!

Today's hunt was back at the camp I have been hunting for the last few weeks. Calabash Digger joined in on this hunt . I have found 3 SC buttons on this site but none looked as good as the one I found today !The Minelab Equinox 800 has been on fire since the new year started ! In this picture, what is the thing near the top that is curved and appears to have tack holes along the perimeter??
I have one just like that and have no idea what it is.
