I never get tired of reading your posts Crusader. Always drool worthy finds ( at least as far as I'm concerned). After reading today's post, I think I need a bigger drool bucket! Congrats!

Tell your Dad congrats on the gold coin. Between the two of you, you pull out some great finds over there.

Another amazing hunt ! I'm always stunned by how pristine gold comes out of the soil - even ancient gold ! Really gives meaning to the term " noble metal "

    UPDATE:
    (from the British Museum)
''It’s a little tricky to pin down, but I think this is a British La2 type. It looks like examples published by John Sills in his ‘Divided Kingdoms’ (2017) volume, Whaddon Cross type, p. 481 nos. 463-464, also in ABC no. 2457 (where it’s called the Whaddon Wings type) and Van Arsdell no. 1478.

We have one on the PAS I think (https://finds.org.uk/database/artefa...cord/id/955585 ) although I can’t find an obvious example in the BM collections (not with the staters and quarter staters of this series at least).

It would be a good one to get photographed and recorded properly!''

ABC Books describes as 'Extremely Rare'.

Always nice to have something the British Museum doesn't have.

Having done further research this coin that was 'Extremely Rare' in the 2010 book is now classified as 'Very Rare', as there are now 19 known examples, & Cru'dad's is No.20.

Amazing! Well done CRUDAD on some Celtic Gold. What do you want me to wish on your next CRU? A Saxon hoard? Lol. Keep up the good work!

Whether it ends up there or not, it’s a banner find. Congratulations definitely in order to your Pops. You’re simply in a different league than most of the rest of us.
