Roman Wood Site - Day 3 - Finished for now...

Continued our grid for 5.5 hours & covered 90% of the scatter. We will move next door soon to do another Site.

Roman Iron Pliers (glad I clear iron, got rid of loads of nails) Probably a rare item!

Good luck, we definitely miss stuff, even yesterday wandering across an already gridded area, I picked up another coin.

Nor have I, I'm only 80% sure, what I'm 100% sure of is that they are at least Medieval.
What helped swayed me (& I follow my own advise when it comes to 'where' it was found - ie. in the centre of a heavily used Roman Site but that doesn't ID it) is that the iron looks the same condition as the Roman Nails I'm getting, plus that odd broken piece of Iron.
I can only find similar examples (not exact match), & I think it may have to do with wood working??

The broken trident shaped iron? (riveted on something, maybe a bucket handle??) Honestly never seen one before anywhere in my research.

I will, just not sure how yet, I think electrolysis might kill it?

Could be woodworking, could be blacksmithing. Most reputable roman settlements had their own blacksmithing. To me it looks more like a blacksmith tool.

Yes, we are getting Iron slag off this site (rare), & small amounts of bronze metal working.
