having returned from Arizona where we rained out in a tropical rain storm 2 weeks ago I decided to try my luck at home again. Grabbed my Equinox 800, Field 2, manual ground balance (pumping) and sensitivity 23. I ran in descriminate from -9 to + 8 as there are usually too many pieces of tiny aluminum foil. Nothing turned up except a fancy old button when I received a very "round" constant 10 from all angles. I usually don't dig 10s but this one sounded just too "round". My very first 50 German Pfennig coin showed up. Very red in color. Looking very slow and carefully now a 5 Mark coin 1980 popped up. Yeah, yeah, yeah my first 5 Mark to my surprise it was only showing a "round" 18. Then 2 more 50 Pfennig and 1 very hard to read coin (I think it is a 5 Pfennig) came out of the ground. This coin is still having a bath in Coca Cola. I hope it will clean of the rust. I thought I will never find a 5 Mark coin. I found so many coins showing 17xx but the German mark people were taking good care of.

to me a 5 Mark coin was always something very special. When I grew up in Germany if somebody would give a 5 Mark coin to me it was a fortune as a kid. There was a lot of value....we had sweets that cost 1 Pfennig or 2 Pfennig a piece...man..with 5 Marks I was able to purchase so many of 'em that I was feeling sick after eatin' all of 'em.... a 5 Mark coin called "Heiermann" in German slang was the one to have.....so I was swinging my Nox 800 for about 1.5 years finding many coins dating back to 17xx but not a sinle "Heiermann"...now I got 'em...a good reason for a small party...it's really nothing special but for me it means so much...I love this hobby and the good people you meet around it. I hope frick'n virus let me survive and get our grandkids growing up in Canada involved in this great hobby!!!!!!! God bless you good people out there!
