Hello,

I have had a detector maybe 7 years now, and have known how to use for almost 4 years. And today I found my first Franklin Silver Half dollar!

I did a big walk around town, and found this in the middle of a sidewalk stripe. The area is pretty decently hunted out, I only got 1 wheatie today, 1940, but a bunch of clad and other odds and ends.

The signal was only 4 or so inches down, so it came in loud and clear.

I’ve dug 2 barber halves - and 12 or so walking halves. First Ben! No silver kens yet.

The details look crisp, show a cleaned up picture when you can.

Coinfetcher... great save! I too, have been stumbling around for about 7 years, but have yet to pop a Ben out of the plug. I’m also blanked on the Barber Half... man I gotta get out more! Congrats on your big silver, good luck on the next great find. Ddf.

Congrats on your first Franklin! I, like you, had found Barbers, Walkers and Seateds, but until last year, never a Ben. Good job finding yours, hope there are more in store!

Here she is after a rinse.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas (and maybe gals) - I’m off to wrap my soon to be wife’s green house with 6mm poly film! She’s doing her first time by her self this year, and it should be a beautiful thing.

Congrats on your first Big Ben CoinFetcher! It's always a thrill to see a giant hunk of silver in the bottom of the whole. I'm still working hard to complete my collection of US half dollars. I've found Ben, Seated, Capped Bust, and some Walkers...but never a Barber. That one is quite high up on my bucket list. Good luck going forward.

Very Nice Woody, congrats on the first. Can’t imagine you have many firsts left when it comes to 20th century US coins, huh?
