I usually don't make a big deal about finding a merc dime, however this location has been detected by several people for a long time. The old high school has been converted into the local area/county museum. HS was built 1890's. This 1917D was found on the front curb area easily 11+ inches deep. I went slower and used max depth on my Etrac in this area because an hr or so earlier my friend using his new Equniox 600 hit his own deep 1917 dime and 03 IHP. The 1910 penny and 43 Merc were found a few streets away. And this afternoon I managed a 54-D Rosie (not pictured). Silver FTY 18,19, 20.

Alb...congrats on going deep for that Merc, there must be a run on those ‘17s, we found a 1917 (P) ourselves Sunday, and she was a solid 8-9” down. We’re normally field hunters but they’re so stinking wet right now that we’ve been cruising curb strips in town... gotta get our fix ya know. Congrats on that deep dive, thx for sharing...Ddf.

The reason it was so deep might be that the area was backfilled at some point. Nice find though.

Nice!! Nothing pulling out something good after digging deep. I had a deep 27-28 on my Nox yesterday, at 10” I pulled up a top to bottom flattened beer can, but I also pulled a CT copper at about the same depth. Great job!!

How do you get that kind of depth out of an eTrac?
Friend and myself experienced ML users, both our eTracs equipped with the 10x12” Detech coil, best we can get is 8” on a silver dime. My Explorer II (with 10x12 SEF) can easily hit the dime at that depth.
