The sun was shinning, the skylarks singing & the butterflies are out. A nice day to social-distance in the middle of no-where, leaving us a 2-Mile cough radius. We saw 1 dog walker all day.
Ground conditions were perfect as it had recently been drilled with Spring Wheat. We have hammered this site over the years & this field only had a 3 inch turn, so we weren't expecting today's result. (although most of them are tiny coins, as both Cru'dad & I are switched on to the tiny scratchy signals)
6 Hours (our 1 exercise for the day ):

35 Roman Coins (1 good one)
2.5 Medieval Buckles
Tudor Strap-end
Medieval Hawking Swivel
Roman Military Propeller Shaped Belt Stiffener (broken)
Child's Celtic Ring Bezel
Roman Hare Brooch
Roman Fly Brooch
2 Roman Hob-nails
Broken Roman Nail Cleaner
1st C AD Roman Brooch
Circa 1380s Richard II Halfpenny (nice example!):icon_thumright:

Crusader,

Excellent hunt, I am always amazed at the number of coins and artifacts you and Cruโ€™dad uncover each hunt. Have you ever thought about creating videos to showcase your techniques for the rest of us.

Good luck with your hunts. Walt

Funny enough I just stated on another post, why I will never video. To me it's a waste of time, time in the field detecting is our enemy. The reason I'm so productive is because of a few simple principals:
Research (find the right spot).
Grid the right spot.
GPS the finds & plot them.
Clear as many signal as you can.
Clear those signals quickly (beep/dig/pouch 30 seconds or less)
All of the above leads to more area covered in a short amount of time, & therefore more finds. (Cru'dad & I grid 1 acre on average in 4 hours)

They are are here too.
I was looking at the GPS plot for this field today, not only does it cover about 20 acres but its just full of plots!

Thanks, but I'm honestly not worried about the Virus (for me), I even considered getting injected with it for testing purposes. They are offering a lot of money for clinical trials.
I feel fit & healthy & when God chooses my time, I'm ready.:icon_thumright:

Oh, just the one good Roman coin huh? [emoji23]
I know, I know. Itโ€™s all relative and these are all pretty great.

GPS the finds & plot them.

Are you doing this in the field? 30 seconds implies that is probably a no but if you are, what are you using for app/tech to do it?

The 30 secs is as stated - beep/dig/pouch. Then depending on how close Cru'dad is behind me on the next run, I either pass it to him & carry on or get my GPS out & call it out to him. We don't use a Program. So that means Cru'dad has a numbered coin sleeve to keep track of the coins. As I'm quicker than him & he does most of the recording, I double back at the end of every run, to speed up the gridding process. This recording adds about 10-15 secs to each find.

Congrats on the great finds !

You found more Roman coins in one day than we find Wheat Cents here in the US ! :BangHead:

Good Hunting !

Ok so GPS is marked in the field. The piece I was struggling to make sense of is how to keep track of what was found where until you plot it so that numbered sleeve would be key. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it also helps that I can ID 95%+ of all objects we dig in the field, so they can be recorded on Cru'dads printed Recording sheet. All data is later transferred to our Database & field plot maps. This information is critical to responsible historical recording.
