When my dad passed I found this Walker in his stuff. No idea where he got it but looks like a parking lot job. Gary

Jewelerguy....that Franklin is simply unrecognizable:laughing7:

when I found it I couldn't figure out what it was for some time other than it was silver. Look close enough to the pics and you can make out the right side of the liberty bell and Franklin's face. Can't figure out why someone would have done that

Merc, probably from a fire. There is a jewelers technique used with fine silver that creates similar patterning called reticulation. The reverse is barely visible. 20180824_191049.jpg 20180824_191113.jpg

I wonder if anyone would notice if I clipped a little silver off it? :) Who knows they might have kept and carried because it was an error coin? Is there any obvious sign this was cut? There are partial planchlet errors

The cut edge is so rounded you can't tell if it was cut or torn. Gary

It didn’t clean up any better, no date and just enough to make out enough detail to identify it. Once it was cleaned and dried out it was much worse. Found at an old carnival ground sandwiched by iron.

E7E968B6-5012-4948-AECB-E6C37AEE66D6.jpeg Right next to my dads perfect $2.5 dollar gold coin I found this little number. Can’t call it ugly but just a little more than messed up. Still a gold coin so I couldn’t be more happy with it :laughing7:

Here's a buffalo with a glob of (I think ) nickel on the face, because it has the same color and hardness as nickel. Under greater magnification, several letters like the ones on the coin are visible in the glob.
