What a morning! SLQ and a *supposedly* gold-plated medallion.

I decided to get out early and hit a fairly old spot a few miles from my house. It's very trashy there and I spent a couple hours going low and slow picking through the junk. I found an 1896 Indian Head there yesterday, so I had high hopes, but I was getting a bit impatient and was about to leave when I got a really weird signal.

It was very deep with high, bouncy ferrous numbers, but it was repeatable all around and in the silver range so I decided to dig it. Well, after pulling THREE completely rusted nails out of the hole I finally found it: A 1928 Standing Liberty! My first silver quarter. I couldn't believe it. The bugger was every bit of eight inches, and under iron too. My Etrac just keeps getting better and better the more I use it. What a beast.

Then, not two feet away I got another deep signal. Penny range. Pulled out this Minnesota state seal medallion. It says 14k plated. Maybe at one time, but I dunno.... It's a bit dubious. Pretty cool anyway. Thanks for looking!

Dan

That's some serious detecting skill, Dan...hanging in there to get past the nails! Love that medallion.

Thanks, everybody. I was pretty excited. These things always happen on the way back to the car, for some reason. :laughing7:
