Finally have a bit of time to write a post. In the last 3 weekends did a good number of hunts. Finds weren't abundant by I managed to get a few quality items.

My best find was my first Revolutionary War loyalist's button and not of just any regiment but that of King's Royal Regiment of New York (or Johnson's Royal Regiment of New York) raised in 1776, a very rare find. I have been hoping to stumble upon a loyalist button for a long while, just didn't dream hitting KRR right away. It looks pretty good, compared to other examples I've seen in the past.

An other unexpected find was this engraved gold ring. I rarely find gold on my fields so it was a welcome site to see it shine in the dirt. The age of it, didn't seem to match the usual period of the relics I find as the ring looked to be in a 100 years old range. With the help of engraved initials, I managed to trace the most probable descendant of its owner. It wasn't that hard,as it was the farmer that presently owns the land. The ring appears to have belonged to his great, great uncle Salem G. who died around 1940 I contacted the farmer by phone and later dropped the ring at his mail box. Glad I managed to recover a part of their family history.

Did find a few coins, some in a very good condition.

My best preserved Coronet Liberty Head 1816

4.jpg 5.jpg

As well as my best Liberty Head 1854 That one is actually from a plowed field, it was sealed in some thick clay, thus the condition.

6.jpg 7.jpg

Some more coins in the usual ''field's'' condition.

My first Great Britain Commerce 1814 Halfpenny

8.jpg 9.jpg

And again, my first large penny from the Bank of Montreal 1842

10.jpg 11.jpg

A few other coins

12.jpg 12a.jpg

Managed to find an other Fur Trade period axe. A BIG one!

14.jpg 15.jpg

Stone arrowhead (any ideas on the type?)

16.jpg

An other ''mystery'' pewter...I did find a few of them in the past, this time I might actually have ID'd it as I have found a book online that migh be of their Standing Orders. Seems to be of 1st Battalion of Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada.

17.jpg 18.jpg
17a.jpg 17b.jpg

A pretty beat 31st from around 1812

19.jpg

An other lion's head uniform piece

21.jpg

A few old complete bottles I stumbled upon in the woods

22.jpg 24.jpg
23.jpg 25.jpg

And a strange rock from the fields, any idea on the type?

26.jpg 27.jpg

Thanks for the comments.

What a great post! You found yourself a lot of "firsts." Kudos. I was scrolling down and reading in amazement. I thought, " This is great stuff. All we need is a bottle." And then I got down to them. Sweet! And a cool rock to boot. Good of you to return the ring. Very nice. HM from me, too.

Absolutely incredible. And returning the ring was just an incredibly kind thing to do.

I'm moving to eastern Canada. Unbelievable.

Thanks villival. Just wait until the boarders reopen :laughing7:

Mirror mirror on the wall who has the fairest finds of them all? Aureus! Amazing finds as always! Great bunch of stuff and you even gave the gold ring to the owner!!! Amazing! After reading what the others said I'll give a vote for honorable mention whatever that is. The stone? No idea but it looks like it was worked by human hand. My guess is that it's a nose off a statue!

:laughing7: Thanks xcopperstax. I was thinking some type of polished decorative stone, not sure of the use.

Those Copper coins are just stunning coming from that soil! Thank you for doing such a good deed and returning the ring. Iโ€™m sure that will be treasured for a long time. I really think that your โ€œrockโ€œ is actually an early billiard ball or (more likely) a door knob. Both of those items have a similar interior composition, and many door knobs had that type of agate swirl pattern. ;)

Killer KRR and Incredible grouping! It's too bad the border is shut down and these finds can't enter the US to make the banner. Only explanation I can think of.
